LESSONS FROM THE BEACH SHORE PEBBLES

My earliest memory of being at the beach should have been at the age of five. Apart from watching the waves roll and people running away from it. Another thrilling experience for me had been picking fine well-shaped pebbles. It was just, PEBBLES! It was just something any kid would do. Years down the line, I have found out that I was learning something else in disguise. I was learning how to pick life lessons. On a lighter note, I love to imagine life like a cow that travels miles dropping her dung. Ofcourse, it's dung, who wants some smelly thing? But if you make use of it properly, you will be grooming a fertile land. The same thing applies to life lessons, you use them well, then they turn around and reward you. I have made some mistakes that sometimes I wish I could reverse. But do I dwell on them? Hell, No! I learn from them. A friend once asked me, "Why do you go so hard on checking up on me? I don't think I am worth it" "It does not matter to m...

LOVE IS A BUTTERFLY

I have watched her walk up to me in dark rooms Pulling off dark curtains to allow light in I stare at her hands  They were unfamiliar but bore gifts It's a block of rooms in a compound Compact even in diversity Even when I got fed up with her and lost her She found me in the most pleasant ways In the most unfamiliar ways Arms open wide Moist eyes Warm hugs that set my heart on fire  Giving my dead soul a double resuscitation I waited for it from the familiar medics They didn't show up But she came borne by another  I am not very loyal So I tend to throw her away To cast her to the ground But she is rooted in me like a cashew seed So I sowed her like a fertile seed on other lands She is a song that I will sing to fellow travellers She is a scroll that I will hand down through generations She is a vision that I will show to the blind She is a baton that I will pass on to other marathoners But no one tol...

WHY YOUR FRIENDS DO WHAT THEY DO

Between kisses and hugs, laughter and frown, noise and silence we make allies and opponents. One of the greatest blessings in my life is the beautiful people that grace it with their warmth, love, advise and scoldings. A popular saying denotes that "No man is an island." This explains that every human needs companions for the purpose of friendship, learning life lessons, companionship and creating a network. However, in the course of time, I have come to realise that what causes strife between us as individuals is not because we totally react badly towards people or receive negative reactions. Every human in your life, regardless of what ties you have with them — Be it, families, friends, acquaintances or colleagues have a role to play. Your life is one big Blockbuster, you are just about to find out.  Understanding the position of people in your life will help you prioritise your time and understand your relationships better.  Popular American...

Floating gravity

My body is a terrain You know the edges How do you poke my soul real deep Touch and clutch it like your hands would never let go I have been doused a couple of times Yet this fire kindles with the force of old wood Pray with me Stay with me Will you recognize me in the dark?  How do I stay in the midst of a crowd yet feel lonely till you walk through Could it be when we hold hands Could it be when my heart dances to the rhythm of your heart                                                                       I don't know a lot of things Perhaps you are a river Permit me to plunge in I will dive in it There is a scent of peace when I 'm here Flick your tongue Is this the taste of freedom? Only you sees this You place your hands on my scars You know the scent of my flaws How else d...

Love Faces

So how do I possibly want a want that leaves me in want? Kneel and pray to be a prey who at the face of its predator stays Oh! How you consume me Have all of me Till there remains no me in me I do not marvel at how you make my angels stay But how do you send my demons away? Does heaven blink and eat? Did you come in place of it? With you, my heart is a lagoon Calm and flooded with a collection of love-drops At your presence even the sun's heartbeat stops Let me hide what we share in his unbreakable cocoon Sit on the moon, let's make love faces Face that 'd never know phases For us, they will search through places Only you and I know where this place is

The heart wants what it wants

THE HEART WANTS WHAT IT WANTS Is time still the old time? Does the moon still peep and bid the sun bye? Do buds still push open their orifice and spit flowers? I count seasons in the sun You went away for too long Light left my eyes What is the pride in sight? Does the red cock still crow? Does the breeze still pout his lips and whistle the name of trees? Do you still hear the sound of the thunder's arching eye brow? All these i do not know Do you still hear the footsteps of rain drops on brown roofs? Or perhaps the clickety-clock symphony of horses hoofs? You went away for too long Sound left my ears What is the pride in hearing? Does the taste of honey still gladden the tongue? Do the flowing rush of water still overwhelm the bowels? Is nectar still the reason why ladybirds dance? Do houseflies still kiss pollen grains as they carelessly swing their hips? You went away for too long Taste left my lips What is the pride in taste? Sight was the wild card Sou...
