PODCASTING: FAST WAY TO SEND OUT YOUR CONTENT IN A FAST-PACED WORLD

One of my biggest worries as 2021 dawned was carrying out all the plans I had mapped out in my head. Of all the things I know I identify as, I know certainly that I will always be a writer. I know I will always share my wealth knowledge but when it seems something is subtly creeping in and snatching your plans  right before your eyes. What do you do? You snatch it by the throat and yell; What are you trying to do? That will be hilarious and silly. Ofcourse, I am joking. You simply look out for other ways to execute the same plans.  In recent times, it is no longer news that the reading culture seems to be waning and it’s something to be seriously worried about. However, while we try to rekindle the reading culture, we need to look out for other ways to keep people learning. This was the option that was looking at me straight in the face when I realised podcasting was a fast option for me to send my content into the minds of people in a fast-paced world....

WILL YOU WASH YOUR HANDS WITH YOUR SPIT?

Have you ever watched how rainfall occurs?  If you are indoors and dry, it's an exciting thing but if you are outdoors and wet, there is no doubt you will be a little grumpy. Rainfall starts with little drops of water dropping like micro pellets till it assumes a furious rush of water from the sky and send even the most tiny legs scampering off to seek shelter.  Little drops of rainfall makes that heavy rain.  Tiny whispers of  'I get one gig' makes an industry. I like to refer to a couple of years back when writing was not a thing. It was assumed as just something nerds liked to do to show their intelligence.  Personally, I don't see writing as a test of intelligence.  It is rather an expression of self when it's in fiction and poetry form and when it takes a non-fiction form of business writing, memoirs, content writing and more, I see it as an unveiling.  These days, it is common to hear young people especially the upwardly...

WEARING THE SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER'S HAT

Apart from your identity card, another thing that identifies or characterizes you will be your hat. Hats? Yes, Hats. I hated them. I felt they had their way of denying my scalp air as a little girl plus I though it looked clumsy. This week, I took the time to observe the number of people I have been in contact with. Some wore hats and some didn't.  Here's my observation; Baseballs hats or caps are for the cool kids, fedoras are for the older men, berets are for the frat guys, floppy female hats are for the bourgie and classy women.  Interesting, isn't it? So, perhaps you can decide to embark on this with me and place people wearing hats in a category (But, don't tell them, that I sent you). Credit: CNCAPS  Social media managers too get to wear hats. Most likely not the Fedora, baseball ball or even beret. But they really do. Their hats are more superficial yet innate. These are characteristics they need to have to enble anyone spot them and say," Aha...

SPOTLIGHT TIME! GAIN VISIBILTY EVEN WITHOUT A WEBSITE

My grandmother 's house was one cool place to visit when I was growing up. Especially between my pre-teens and teenagehood. I am a vintage soul. There were always old newspapers and magazines like TEL L, NewsWatch and Vogue lying carelessly. They were priceless treasures as it was also a period in time when my curiosity was taking higher leaps. Another magazine that often caught my eyes was what my older cousins referred to as a 'Yellow Pages.' No need to sleep on this. It was simply a Directory. The yellow pages are any telephone directory of businesses, organized by category rather than alphabetically by business name, and in which advertising is sold. The directories were originally printed on yellow paper, as opposed to white pages for non-commercial listings. In present times, Yellow Pages are not the trend. Instead, we do Business Listings. Just like you have a home or office where I can walk into to check up on you, so does your business. Sometimes, in ...

THE LESS TALKED ABOUT RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BRANDING AND COLOURS

One of the most thrilling things about movies and television series is the emergence of love interests among the characters. Fans of these movies and tv series automatically turn the duo into a headline. They are often talked about on every space and suddenly everyone turns to some kind of sailor with a chant of "Ship them" falling in very angle.  Relationships are beautiful to watch as they blossom. While some of us like to raise our's like flag and some like to keep it on the low.  The good thing remains that you are living, loving and laughing.  One relationship that is not often talked about remains the one existying between your brand and colours.  Most people have a general idea of the effect colours can have on you.  You might have heard that a kitchen should never have too much blue decor because blue ruins your appetite. You have probably also heard that red can raise your heart pressure. In all actuality, there is truth behind these ...

BEING THE BIG FEET IN THE GAME

I wish I could tell you that I love the title of this article but I honestly can't. I wear a size 43 and I am a lady. I practically go on a world tour when I am shopping for a shoe.  The sound of the word, bigfoot makes me cringe but I have to do what I got to do.  Stories. I love stories. I remember a myth about how a tiny woman who had gone to steal from a giant's hut could not outrun the giant after one of her stealing escapades because each stride of the giant was five times her's.  Hilarious, I know.  Sometimes you need big feet to keep you five times ahead of your competition. Business and career are pedals we keep kicking till we are frail. So, it's important to always be the bigfoot in the game.  How do you stay ahead and make this happen? Don't keep your eyes on the present The present is an illusion. The future is brighter than you can ever imagine or have ever been told. There is always room for expansion. So while you make your deci...

LEARN THEN REMOVE THE 'L'

A country, community or organisation without youths is one without a future. Youths in this context refer to those whose minds, talents and creativity bring a fountain of life to everyone and everything they come in contact with.  When you do this, you have truly defeated age. The human body can be young for a short for a period of time while the spirit can be young forever.  According to the United Nations, 226 million youth aged 15-24 lived in Africa in 2015 representing nearly 20% of Africa’s population, making up one- fifth of the world’s youth population. If one includes all people aged below 35, this number increases to a staggering three-quarter of Africa’s population.  It is important to note that people who often fall prey to the learn but don't remove the 'L' are often young people. The good book saw this coming and admonished, " Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduc...

WE CAN OPEN OUR BLIND EYES

If you thought that we go blind when the light fails our eyes, it's likely you believe that snowballs fallen on the floor are scoops of ice cream cascading from the skies. There is a thing about the generation that tends to stir the leadership of this country when the frail ones visit the land of no return. We love 'big things.' Big phones, big cars, big houses, big dreams, big husbands, big wives, big names or just about anything as long as it has the prefix 'Big.' You can't blame us!  We are the Millenials, the Gen-Z, no other generation has had a name as hip as ours. The digital era heralded us. So, No! You can't blame us.  But the next time we desire something big, let us remember that tiny pieces of sedimented particles make a huge rock.  Let us bring our bigness to remind us that a young Nigerian boy named  Dr. Emeagwali carefully studied the efficient ways in which bees communicate and build honeycombs and decided to create...

UZOR GABRIEL, A CAKE DESIGNER WHO BELIEVES IN OPENING ANOTHER DOOR WHEN ONE CLOSES

Alexander Graham Bell is quoted to have said: " When one door closes, another opens, but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us."  Uzor Gabriel happens to be one who has eyes for open doors even in the midst of closed doors.  When he lost his job some years back, he decided to learn cake designing instead of staying idle. This led to the establishment of his business, Gabby Treasure. A startup actively involved in baking and designing mouth-watering cakes.  The father of two who resides in Kaduna reveals "I never took the vocation seriously, I was called back to work again after some months but I lost the job again, then I decided it was time to take the bold step even if it was challenging, that is how I became who I am today by God's grace. Was it just a normal occurrence or an unfolding of a divine order? Uzor is still on the journey of unravelling this. The Cak...

CHIOMA VANESSA : A FASHIONPRENEUR MOTIVATED BY PASSION AND CREATIVITY TO CHART A PATHWAY

Chioma was that child that will send you hiding your clothes and wrappers far away from her reach for the fear that she will tear them in shreds out of the zeal of designing and making clothes. Her first skirt was made at the age of twelve.  "Nobody taught me to sew, nobody close to me sews, I didn't even know it was a 6 pieces skirt I sewed till I finally went to a fashion school," She says with an air of humour.  "I also made bags and a pair of slippers from an old Jean material that happened to be my old skirt. My mum marveled at the thought of Jean slippers then but now we see Jean slippers everywhere." She continues.  Chioma Vanessa who prefers to go by the alias 'God's favourite daughter' is a graduate of the Federal University of Technology Owerri, an entrepreneur and the present CEO of Nessa Design and Stitches (NDS). A young Fashion and Designing outfit that not only makes great outfits but also runs mini fashion tutorial...
