Between choking laughter, nibbling on groundnut and bananas, we talked calmly. "Why did you offer me bananas?"
"I see. So, I can't be nice anymore?" My eyebrows carving an arc in curiosity.
"Mother Theresa, you don't give people bananas," He insisted.
I chuckled. I was caught red-handed, I do not offer anyone those precious yellow darlings. We talked about a whole lot of things till he said something about people who accompanied others to the world.
That struck a chord in my mind. A conversation could teach you a lifelong lesson.
In his word, "Some people came to this world for a mission while the others just accompanied them." In split seconds, I imagined politicians alighting from cars while their armed aides jostled to secure their lives. I wondered how they felt after that. It's their job and I understand.
I had a sleepless night that day pondering on if I had a mission to fulfil or I was just here to add to the statistics of humans born on the 5th of February.
Everyone has a voice. Believe it or not. How you choose to communicate it depends solely on you. It is a crime against humanity to come here on earth to live for you and your family alone ten fizzle away like the wind. There are a couple of destinies tied around yours, if you do not make a move, you will be keeping them bound.
The world is so attached to being cliche that everyone believes that there is a particular stereotyped pattern that you should reach out. That is a big fat lie.
You don't need to sound like Martin Luther King or write like Joel Osteen to deliver your message. All you need is your authenticity, all you need is YOU. There is something in you that no one else can ever have. Don't keep us waiting.
May you considering starting out next year. Maybe you are waiting for the next big break. Start with who you are, where you are and what you have. Time has never told me that it is affiliated to you, the clock is ticking.
