WHY YOUR FRIENDS DO WHAT THEY DO

Between kisses and hugs, laughter and frown, noise and silence we make allies and opponents. One of the greatest blessings in my life is the beautiful people that grace it with their warmth, love, advise and scoldings. A popular saying denotes that "No man is an island." This explains that every human needs companions for the purpose of friendship, learning life lessons, companionship and creating a network. However, in the course of time, I have come to realise that what causes strife between us as individuals is not because we totally react badly towards people or receive negative reactions. Every human in your life, regardless of what ties you have with them — Be it, families, friends, acquaintances or colleagues have a role to play. Your life is one big Blockbuster, you are just about to find out.  Understanding the position of people in your life will help you prioritise your time and understand your relationships better.  Popular American...

CHIOMA VANESSA : A FASHIONPRENEUR MOTIVATED BY PASSION AND CREATIVITY TO CHART A PATHWAY

Chioma was that child that will send you hiding your clothes and wrappers far away from her reach for the fear that she will tear them in shreds out of the zeal of designing and making clothes. Her first skirt was made at the age of twelve.  "Nobody taught me to sew, nobody close to me sews, I didn't even know it was a 6 pieces skirt I sewed till I finally went to a fashion school," She says with an air of humour.  "I also made bags and a pair of slippers from an old Jean material that happened to be my old skirt. My mum marveled at the thought of Jean slippers then but now we see Jean slippers everywhere." She continues.  Chioma Vanessa who prefers to go by the alias 'God's favourite daughter' is a graduate of the Federal University of Technology Owerri, an entrepreneur and the present CEO of Nessa Design and Stitches (NDS). A young Fashion and Designing outfit that not only makes great outfits but also runs mini fashion tutorial...

REASONS WHY WE SHOULD ALL BE CARELESS

One of the things I spend some of my sub-conscious time doing is playing mind-games. I usually do not believe that there is one straight road leading to a certain path, this is why I am always haunted by the quest to seek for new paths. So I am a devoted player of the "What If game?"  As much as this game sounds exciting, the irritating part is when you try to limit yourself, your ideation will tend to lose its fluidity. If you don't want to stand a chance of being thrashed 20 - 0 in a 'What If game,' Then you need to Just Do It like the Colin Kaepernick Nike's Ad campaign. Trust me, it is more rewarding laughing over your folly than crying over the regret that you should have made an attempt or taken up a task because years down the lane, you will stay at a wrinkled face with grey hair and whisper "I wish I did it." In my local dialect in Eastern Nigeria, we say " Uche na abia abia ." It means that one can never be too knowle...

WHAT YOU DIDN'T KNOW I LIKED ABOUT YOU

So lately I was discussing with a friend. In the midst of the discussion, he wiped open his phone screen and asked: "How much do you think he is worth?" Referring to someone who passed as influential to him. I cast my glance at him, "Nothing!" I said calmly. "You are a joker. You mean you don't know who he is?" He asked again. I breathed a sigh of relief with my mind made up that a response from me would never see the light of the day. There is something I secretly call the "Underground Theory." The world and its people are so fast that if you are not cautious, you might be knocked down by the fast and trampling go-lucky people. As opposed to how any other person perceives it, my value system for your success lies in your history. I like to believe I 'm weird or perhaps old-fashioned but this is one part about you that thrills me. I am a firm optimist, therefore the future has no choice than to be better than...

THE STORY OF THE FROZEN HEART

Souls tucked in sacks  So went the lot of hearts dressed in flesh  When their hearts stopped  When hands like claws  The look alike of McAnthony tore away their aortas  So went the stories of men who their hearts froze  Abominable sights  Waved like Indian hand fans across faces  Pleas upon pleas  Deafness became the sound that the world knew  So their hearts froze  That's the story of the man whose heart froze  Eyes blinded by its own tears  I saw it scribbled in a book  It read injustice  So what is left in justice? Under rocks  Depths of seas  It was sought  So went the story of the man whose heart froze  Washed away  It travelled the depths of seas  Only to be spotted in the antics  Where its blood was coagulated  Into an unfamiliar lump  So went the story of the man whose heart f...

GUEST POST: HOW TO CONVERT A NEGATIVE REVIEWER ON SOCIAL MEDIA INTO AN EVANGELIST FOR YOUR BUSINESS

Take it from me, social media marketing is the best marketing strategy that the world has ever seen. And investing in social media marketing is no longer an option as it has become the new industry standards for connecting with a target audience and building brands. Social media has also given consumers so much power such that they can now turn to platforms like Facebook to view ratings, read reviews, comments from real clients and more. And learning how to professionally handle reviews and negative comments is important as it can push away potential customers, and at worst case, can cause damaging effects to a company’s brand image. In this article, you are going to learn how to correctly manage negative reviews and use them to win more customers. Let me start by sharing what happened to me last week. So a lady reacted to my Instagram posts with contradiction. She didn’t stop there, she entered my DM for the first time to rant about something she doesn...

WHOSE SACRIFICE HAVE WE EATEN?

Blood is the river that flows Stabs after stabs From filial swords Shots after shots From our supposed protector's guns Tears is the stream in which we drown Bellies empty While our fathers sing Humpty-dumpty sat on the wall The very ground that swallowed our umbilical cords despise us So we run From you, from them, from us To lands green seeking the gold rush We once had gold but it's now covered in rust Maybe we should head to the mountains To get closer to the clouds To yell in it's ears And ask; Whose ewe did we steal? Which god's sacrifice have we mortals eaten? That has rendered us countless times by vipers bitten That has made our lives less in value against cattle or perhaps beetles Whose sacrifice have we eaten?
