TOP SKILLS AMAKA'S YOUNG STARTUP NEEDS TO AVOID 'DISAPPOINTMENT'

Amaka is one of the smartest people I have met. Come to think of it, she was raised in Onitsha, Anambra State and the ever bustling city of Lagos. You can say business sense comes easy to her, having lived in these two cities.

When the year began, she planned to increase her clientele to at least hundred for the year. Lately, she got a  ink that also enables her get quality supply of super stylish clothes.

However, the goal of the year has been dwindling. She has been on an emotional roller coaster on why her business has not  been going as planned. We all know business has it's good days and it's bad days.

But these... has been bad daaaaaaays. Before we attribute anything to fate and the circumstance. One thing is evident, she has not been making efficient use of her resources that will help her nail her goal for the year.

What in Christ heaven's is she going to do?

There is a very thick line between wanting and needing a thing. With the constant evolution of the market scene, there is a NEED to scale up using digital resources to reach out to the ever increasing global market. There is a need to expand beyond the traditional approach.

Amaka NEEDS some good digital tools to up her game.

So let's do some shopping for Amaka. We can' t afford to let her 'disappoint.'

Branding

Every business has a face. Think of Apple, Facebook, Tesla and Virgin, and Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk and Richard Branson spring to mind. These companies are not only world-famous and influential, but they also had a strong brand influenced by the founders. Everyone has a brand, and everyone is a brand. The way you talk, the way you respond to emails, the way you introduce yourself, the way you write is your brand.
Digital Marketing
When small businesses get started, their focus is often on how to get their first group of customers through the door. They may rely on traditional forms for a start While this strategy may bring in a trickle of business. There is a better and easier way.
Small businesses should consider the huge marketplace of prospects online. No small business, no matter how new, should overlook this vast marketplace.
The group of potential customers that are found online is a much larger group of people than you are likely to be able to attract locally. Using digital marketing, you can reach an enormous audience in a way that is both cost-effective and measurable.
Automation
Amaka has heard countless times that 'there is no time to check time" but she didn't take it serious.

Doing the same thing over and over again doesn’t make you productive. Doing the thing that can be done by software is a waste of time that will cause huge regret. If you can’t execute something using software, learn to delegate it.

Automation offers flexibility, less time being alloted to tasks and of higgher productivity and profitability.

Using systems like Upwork, IFTTT, Hootsuite will help her take a leap.

Animation

Videos are everywhere these days, and they’re only going to become more prominent in the future. Animated videos are a great, inexpensive way for small businesses to jump on the video marketing bandwagon.
An animated video will offer endless benefits for your small business — they’re fun, they’re persuasive, and they build trust.
Customers feel more comfortable purchasing from businesses they know and trust. Animated videos are a great way to break the barrier a little, they give you the chance to humanize your brand and ultimately, begin building much needed trust with customers.
So, you see, Amaka has a million reasons not to disappoint us. Help her not to.

WHY I WON'T BE BUYING ANYTHING AGAIN FOR A LIFETIME

Heads up, people!  Walking into a shop to purchase an item does not look appealing to me anymore. This is one of my decisions for the new year being that if something is not worth it then there is no point buying it especially trying to impress another fellow.  I have chosen to stick to buying experiences rather 'things.' One of my observation is that experiences cannot be stolen or compromised. They stick like your gum sap sticks to a tree.  So maybe before you buy that expensive Emporio Armani wristwatch or Jimmy Choo shoes, it might be imperative to checkmate if there are experiences that same amout can buy you. Don't get me wrong, it is as clear as crystal that you need to shop for clothings, food, phones or luxury from time to time but bear in mind that your happiness can't be tied to any item. That vibe you get is nothing but a fleeting one .  “One of the enemies of   happiness  is adaptation,”  Thomas  Gilovich reveals. “We buy ...

MONEY MATTERS: SMALL STEPS TO 'SECURING THE BAG'

"I am chilling on the throne, I am an old man in a young body," were the lyrics a popular Nigerian musician lent to our approving nods and dancing feet a couple of years ago. Little did I know that I 'd have to make reference to him at a point in time.  If you are a young person and you are at a loss on how to get your 'money game' rolling in this era then you are a young man in an old body. 'Man' here does not literally refer to the male gender. It points out to both genders. Technology came with communication, social media, a spin around our not-so-great photography game but it came with Fintech too which is an innovative use of technology in the design and delivery of financial services and products. The application of fintech cuts across multiple business segments, including lending, advice, investment management and payments.     Fintech is actually fast being chased by her brother TechFin. What are all these jargons that I am even ta...

HOW I RESOLVED MY BEEF WITH MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKERS

One of the group of people I detested coming in contact with as an undergraduate in the university were motivational speakers. I actually came up with a quote that some of my old friends from university still remind me of,  "Motivational speakers are folks who speak words that can charge three laptops, five phones and two power banks then the whole power fizzles away in a minute." My mindset had been wired that my inspiration should come from these motivational speakers. In my first and second year, I would attend any event I got an invite just to get inspired. However, when I got to my third year, I knew I was basically wasting my time. So I resorted to resentment for motivational speakers. With time, I found a way of tapping my inspiration from the sports world. So, I would watch tennis, football, boxing, wrestling and basketball. At the time, it was the 'real deal' for me. The truth I found later was that these guys were just like the gods in Ola Rotimi...
